Recording A Modular Synthesizer: Lesson 1

I have learned the first lesson about recording a modular synthesizer: Record a reference pitch first! There is no auto-tune or built-in reference tone so you could be tuned to anything! Fortunately the first 2 things I recorded seem to be in tune… hopefully.

This Doepfer modular is capable of some pretty amazing sounds. The trick is to create something musical though. I’m gonna need another oscillator and another mult very soon. Another ADSR would be handy too. Not to mention the MS-20 filter. So there’s another $800 gone. I’ll have to get a couple of modules at a time. Slowwwwwwww growth. Patience!
